Party, State leaders award SEA Games medals to men's football teams
(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue and Permanent member of the Party Secretariat Vo Van Thuong on Sunday evening presented gold medals to U23 team of Vietnam, silver medals to U23 team of Thailand, and bronze medals to U23 team of Indonesia.

The medal awarding ceremony was held in My Dinh stadium in Hanoi after Vietnam U23 team won 1-0 against Thailand, defending the men's football championship at the ongoing Southeast Asian Games.

President Phuc applauded the coaches and athletes of the Vietnam Sports Delegation for setting a new record for the number of gold medals a country has won at one SEA Games.

Vietnam has so far won a total of 446 medals, including 205 gold, 125 silver, and 116 bronze medals, ranking first in the medal tally and breaking the record of 194 gold medals set by Indonesia as the host of the 19th SEA Games in 1997.
