Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, the Committee’s head, asked provincial authorities to urge locals to wear masks and take other preventive measures.

He emphasized the need to change habits to prevent epidemics in the community and to live safely with the disease until a COVID-19 vaccine is launched.

“It’s time to call on the entire community  to take drastic measures in restricting travel, keeping distance, wearing masks, and sanitizing hands. These are important and the most effective preventive measures as the origin of the disease transmission is through saliva,” said Mr. Dam.

“If everybody wears masks, the possibility of transmission will become almost zero. Mass organizations and media should join efforts with provincial governments to urge locals to strictly comply with regulations. Violators must be punished,” he added.
