In the past 2 days, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has received nearly 1.5 million USD to support people in central Vietnam. President of the VN Fatherland Front, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said: "More than 200,000 houses were destroyed by the typhoon, leaving 1.1 million people homeless. These donations are of great importance to the victims and we pledge to deliver the aid as soon as possible and in the most appropriate ways. Appreciation is due to people nationwide who are willing to share the burdens of fellow citizens in the central provinces."
In addition to paying attention to injured people who are receiving treatment at hospitals and healthcare stations, the Quang Binh Red Cross Society is giving families who lost a loved one 150 USD each. It is also providing emergency aid to 200 families whose houses collapsed during the typhoon in Bo Trach and Quang Trach districts. Cao Quang Canh, head of the Quang Binh Red Cross Society told VOV: "We are organizing emergency groups to travel to the affected areas to make assessments of the typhoon’s effects and local people’s basic needs. Poor households, families of beneficiaries, and disabled people are of special concerns. We are devising long-term plans to ask the Central and International Red Cross Societies to provide immediate relief to the victims to overcome the typhoon’s aftermaths."
Similar activities are expected from the Associations of Vietnamese Students, young Entrepreneurs, and physicians at central and local levels to support the typhoon’s victims.
