(VOVworld)- The first Peruvian Film Week called "Peru Film Beat" kicked off in Hanoi on Friday as part of activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vietnam-Peru diplomatic ties. Held by the Peruvian Embassy in Vietnam, the event was the continuation of the “Peruvian Cuisine Week” held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City last week. Peruvian Charge De’ Affairs in Vietnam Luis Tsuboyama said Peru appreciated Vietnam’s position in the region and wanted to strengthen bilateral investment and trade cooperation with Vietnam. He said the opening of the Peruvian Embassy in Vietnam is an important step in facilitating cooperation exchanges between the two countries in diplomacy, trade, investment and culture: “In addition of promoting opportunities of trade and investment cooperation, we have organized community activities and direct people-to-people exchanges. We have worked with universities in Vietnam. We have organized a writing contest about Peru on the occasion of Peru’s National Day. Through this event, we want to further strengthen our policy on people-to-people diplomacy. Introducing Peruvian cuisine is a way to introduce ourselves to other country”.

Peru official set up its diplomatic ties with Vietnam in November 1994. Over the past 20 years, the two countries have signed a number of cooperative agreements in economics, trade, agriculture, fisheries, science and technology. They have granted visa exemption for their diplomatic and official passport holders and increased bilateral cooperation within APEC.
