Petrovietnam donates 1.3 million USD to COVID-19 vaccine fund

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) on Tuesday donated 30 billion VND (1.3 million USD) to Vietnam’s COVID-19 vaccine fund.

The Government plans to buy 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for 75 million Vietnamese people. The total cost is estimated at 25.2 trillion VND including 16 trillion VND from the state budget and 9.2 trillion USD to be contributed by businesses and organizations. 

To this end, the Finance Ministry proposed the Government set up a  COVID-19 vaccine fund which will receive domestic and overseas donations.

On this occasion, Petrovietnam employees also raised 2 billion VND for people in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, two localities hardest hit by COVID-19 in Vietnam at the moment. 

The Group’s trade union and affiliates have provided hundreds of millions of VND to support frontline personnel in the fight against the pandemic. 

Since COVID-19 was first detected in Vietnam in early 2020, the oil and gas sector has donated 70 billion VND to the battle against coronavirus.
