Petrovietnam donates high-performance ventilators to Health Ministry for COVID-19 treatment

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) on Friday donated 200 high-performance ventilators and other medical supplies to the Ministry of Health to support COVID-19 treatment.

The 4th wave of COVID-19, which hit Vietnam in late April, remains unpredictable, especially in Ho Chi Minh City and other southern localities. It has severely affected local residents and businesses. Many medical facilities the region are overloaded and lack medical equipment and supplies, especially ventilators for the treatment for severe COVID-19 patients.

As one of Vietnam’s important economic groups, Petrovietnam has always been aware of its social responsibility. Over the past two years, the group has implemented social security programs worth 650 billion VND (28.5 million USD).

As of August 15, PetroVietnam and its affiliates have donated 620 billion VND to Vietnam’s COVID-19 fight.

Speaking at Friday’s ceremony to receive the ventilators and medical supplies, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long affirmed that the timely and valuable support of Petrovietnam will contribute to providing better care for and treatment of COVID-19 patients. 

Petrovietnam Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong said he hopes the donation will contribute to minimizing deaths and reducing the burden on the health sector. 

Along with the donation of 200 high-performance ventilators and 3,000 sets of breathing lines, Petrovietnam pledged to continue supporting efforts to quickly contain the pandemic and bring people’ lives back to normal.
