Philippine singer wins ASEAN+3 Song Contest

(VOVWORLD) - Singer Darlin Joy Baje from the Philippines defeated 9 others to win the ASEAN+3 Song Contest, hosted by Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in Thanh Hoa province.

In his address at the finale on Sunday, VOV President Nguyen The Ky said the first ASEAN+3 Song Contest fostered cultural exchange for friendship, cooperation, and development between ASEAN members and other countries. “Regardless of nationality, music bears noble humanism, warmness, sincerity, the beauty of the soul, kindness, and aspiration for a world of peace, happiness, and prosperity. The ASEAN+3 Song Contest, which took place from Thursday to Sunday, provided an opportunity for artists to introduce music of their country, show off their talents, and work in a professional art environment”, Ky added.

The grand finale was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh, and representatives of ministries, agencies, and embassies. Phan Thi Thu Lan of Vietnam and Ni Ni Khin Zaw of Myanmar were the runners-up. Third prizes went to Pham Tien Manh of Vietnam and Alvir Anthony Subrado of the Philippines.

A total of 17 contestants from ASEAN countries and 5 guest singers from China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea took part in the event, which was part of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN and the 72nd anniversary of VOV.
