Prime Minister Chinh highlighted Vietnam's message on peace, stability and development, saying Vietnam values a holistic approach to issues of peace, security and development. Peace is the foundation, solidarity and cooperation are the driving force, and sustainable development is the goal, he added. Vietnam will do its best to jointly contribute to peace, stability and sustainable development of mankind, wishes to end conflicts, not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons, respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensure food, energy, and human security.
The Vietnamese PM said the rule of law, United Nations Charter and international law, and the settlement of all disputes by peaceful means should be honored and implemented with specific commitments. He called on all parties involved in all conflicts to resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation to find lasting solutions, taking into account the legitimate interests of the parties.
For the Southeast Asian region, the Prime Minister said he hopes that countries will strictly adhere to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and move towards a substantive and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC), in line with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
PM Chinh urged the parties to exercise restraint and not take actions that complicate the situation and violate the sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of the relevant countries established by the UNCLOS.
Also on Sunday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of other countries visited the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima City, the port of Itsukaichi and the ship “Suiso Frontier” - the world's first liquid hydrogen carrier. He received the Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture Yuzaki Hidehiko and attended the Vietnam-Japan business talks.
