(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the 28th ASEAN-Japan Summit with other ASEAN leaders and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Chinh said he will closely cooperate with Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae to promote shared priorities.
After more than 50 years of establishing relations, ASEAN and Japan have become sincere and trustworthy partners, sharing many interests and goals for an open, inclusive, rules-based and ASEAN-centered regional architecture, the Prime Minister said. He added that Vietnam is ready to play a constructive role in facilitating dialogue between relevant parties, including through ASEAN-led mechanisms, towards long-term peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

At the end of the Conference, the ASEAN and Japan leaders adopted a Joint Statement on Promoting and Implementing the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.
Also on Sunday, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, who is accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits, met with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
