PM Phuc said  GDP growth in the first quarter was estimated at 6.79%, while the macro economy was stable and the foreign currency reserve was on the rise. He said the consumer price index (CPI) was up 2.7% in the reviewed period, the lowest in three years.

The inflow of foreign investment increased by nearly 31%, with over 4 billion USD disbursed. More than 28,000 businesses were established in the past 3 months, PM Phuc said.

"I called on ministries and agencies at all levels to overcome challenges to reach 2019’s growth targets and comprehensively resolve social issues, especially regarding culture and education. The first quarter of this year saw high economic growth but compares unfavorably with the same period last year. We need to ensure national growth despite the decreasing global growth," said Mr. Phuc.
