PM chairs national conference on sustainable development

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday chaired the plenary session of the National Conference on Sustainable Development in Hanoi.

In his address, the Prime Minister acknowledged seminar participant's contributions to Vietnam’s sustainable development orientations regarding economics, investment and human resource. The Prime Minister said sustainable development is an urgent need and an obvious trend in a country’s development process. Therefore it’s necessary to mainstream sustainable development in all Party guidelines and State policies. He said: “Ensuring sustainable development is the responsibility of the entire Party and people, the political system and all social strata. We need to mobilize our strength, policies and resources for sustainable development. The UN report on Human Development identifies the importance of putting people at the center of development. Building a wealthy country, equal society, democracy and civilization is the consistent principle in the development process.”

The Prime Minister stressed the importance to synchronously implement national strategies on green growth and sharing economy, increase investment in human resource development in remote areas, improve working efficiency and accelerate the building of the e-government.  He urged for breakthroughs to encourage enterprises and the public to promote creativity and and increase economic competitiveness.
