The leaders agreed to take all possible medical measures to control the COVID-19 pandemic, and share in a timely and transparent manner their pandemic experience, developments, and best practices. The G20 summit adopted a Joint Statement on the fight against COVID-19.

In his remarks, PM Phuc stressed the importance of international solidarity, cooperation and coordination. Affirming Vietnam’s determination and commitment to fighting the epidemic, he said Vietnam is pursuing the double target of containing the disease while promoting economic development and social welfare.

Mr. Phuc said Vietnam, in its capacity as ASEAN Chair in 2020, and other ASEAN countries have adopted the spirit of a “cohesive and responsive community”, taken strong measures to fight the pandemic, and shared information and experience with G20 countries and other partners.

Leaders of the Group of 20 major economies pledged to inject more than 5 trillion USD into the global economy to limit job and income losses and “do whatever it takes to overcome the pandemic."
