PM meets Qatar leaders in Doha

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Thursday during his official visit to Qatar.

Mr. Chinh congratulated Qatar on its outstanding success under the judicious and sound leadership of the Emir, helping Qatar develop rapidly and sustainably, with a modern economy, strong national security and defense, and an increasingly important role in the international arena.

Affirming that there are no limits in its relations with Vietnam, the Emir said Qatar is always open to cooperation activities with Vietnam and suggested that the two sides seek new areas of cooperation.

PM Chinh said that with a population of over 100 million, Vietnam can supply Qatar with a high-quality workforce. He asked that Qatar provide more scholarships for Vietnamese students to study Arabic and encouraged greater cooperation in digital transformation, green transition, and the circular economy.

At a meeting with Speaker of the Shura Council (Consultative Assembly) of Qatar Hassan bin Abdulla Al-Ghanim, the two leaders agreed to boost coordination between the two parliaments to support the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, upgrade relations to a new height, prioritize collaboration in economy, trade, investment and energy, and perfect policies and agreements, especially a free trade agreement, to tighten business connections and people-to-people links.
