Only half of the eligible 116,000 Likud members voted, with Netanyahu securing 72% of the votes, compared to the 28% of his rival Gideon Saar.

Netanyahu declared his ‘huge win’ on his Twitter account and thanked Likud members for their trust and support. He will lead the Likud into the general election next March.

This election was a challenge for the 70-year-old Netanyahu, following his failure to form a new government and multiple corruption allegations.
