PM Nguyen Tan Dung attends Cat Bi In’t Airport ground breaking ceremony

(VOVworld)-Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung today/ on Tuesday attended a ground breaking ceremony to expand and upgrade Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong city.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Dung said that this project plays an important role in the socio-economic development of Hai Phong city and the Northern economic zone in general. He urged Hai Phong city and investors, consultants, and construction units to closely cooperate dealing with difficulties and obstacles in implementing the project in line with the State law on capital construction.  With an investment capital of 180 million USD for expanding and upgrading, Cat Bi International Airport will act as a standby airport for its Noi Bai International Airport and as an airfield for dual civilian and military purposes. It will receive 2 million visitors each year.

The same day, Prime Minister Dung visited Song Cam shipbuilding joint stock company in Hong Bang district, Hai Phong. Dung  said the Party  and Government pay special attention to developing VN’s sea economy, including shipbuilding. He urged the company to improve its shipbuilding and gradually adopt more modern techniques in shipbuilding and repair.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Dung met representatives of Hai Phong City’s association of soldiers who took part in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. He said the Party and government would each do their utmost to improve the living standards both spiritually and materially for policy beneficiaries nationwide including those in Hai Phong. Mr. Dung proposed that the city authorities should find further ways by which to demonstrate their respect and gratitude for those who have rendered great service to the nation and create better conditions in which the Association can operate more efficiently.
