PM Pham Minh Chinh affirms determination to curb inflation, stabilize macro-economy

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to prioritise assistance for Vietnam, while receiving Era Dabla-Norris, head of the IMF's Article IV Consultation of the Department of Asia-Pacific, in Hanoi on October 3.

PM Chinh said that Vietnam is determined to control inflation, stabilize the macro-economy, promote growth and ensure major balances of the economy, implement prudent and certain monetary policy, restructure and diversify markets, products, and supply chains.

He proposed the IMF to give priority to support Vietnam, strengthens policy consultancy for the Vietnamese Government and relevant agencies on economic management to deal with the arising risks, and support Vietnam to develop green economy, energy transformation, climate change adaptation, digital transformation, digital economy, and e-commerce.

Mrs. Era Dabla-Norris highly appreciated Vietnam's monetary and fiscal policies, including tax and fee incentive policies to reduce the burden on households and businesses. She recommended to Vietnam to carefully and consistently combine macro policies and well implement policy communication to manage risks and mitigate the impact of policy alternatives and implement the recovery and development program.
