PM Pham Minh Chinh calls for studies on wind and solar power

(VOVWORLD) - At a working session on Monday in Can Tho city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked EVN’s Power Generation Corporation 2 and thermal power plants to invest in new technology to reduce the use of coal, and study the exploitation of new energies like wind and solar power.

He visited and presented gifts to the staff of the O Mon 1 Thermal Power Plant operated by the Can Tho Thermal Power Company.

PM Chinh asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade, EVN, and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) to coordinate in calculating the total amount of gas needed to operate the O Mon 1, 2, 3 and 4 plants and set a schedule to ensure the target of zero net emissions by 2050.
