He said that no community transmission of COVID-19 being reported in Vietnam for more than two months is a great success for the country’s Party, State, and political system, and has earned praise from the public and the international community. He said as the global economic situation is getting worse, Vietnam needs to closely monitor the disease while at the same time urgently restore the economy. He asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to work out specific scenarios for economic growth in the remaining quarters of the year to achieve the GDP growth rate of 3 to 4%: “We need to resolutely prevent the recurrence of the disease which is the prerequisite for sustainable economic growth. Our measures to restore the economy need to be focused on boosting production, generating jobs, and promoting the private sector. We need to manage the fiscal policy flexible and control inflation. It’s important to support businesses to prevent business disruption. We also need prompt mechanisms to stimulate the economy, investment, and consumption and increase technological application in industries, agriculture and services," said the Prime Minister.
