PM underlines effective use of statistics for policy making

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that statistics are extremely important, especially in policy making as he addressed a national statistics conference in Hanoi on Thursday.

At the conference which connected 63 provinces and cities across the country, PM Chinh said the statistics sector performed well the task of ensuring statistical information to serve governance in 2021. The National Assembly has passed the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles and the Appendix to the List of national statistical indicators of the Law on Statistics.

The Prime Minister set multiple goals for Vietnam in 2022, especially economic development in the new normal and ensuring social security while being ready for pandemic prevention and control.

“It’s necessary to raise awareness about statistics work. Leaders of the administrations at all levels determine that statistics must be complete, comprehensive, objective, truthful, accurate, timely, and transparent. Projection must be close to the situation, and statistics must be used effectively. A picture is worth a thousand words,” he said.
