(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underscored the tasks and solutions to achieve goals set for 2024, saying that if GDP growth in the fourth quarter reaches about 7.5%, the whole year’s rate will be more than 7%, nearly double the average rate of Southeast Asia and the world.

The Prime Minister chaired the regular Government meeting, which evaluated the socio-economic situation in October and the past 10 months and worked out orientations, tasks, solutions in November and December.
He stressed the need to point out the results, limitations, and challenges, analyze the causes and lessons learned in directing, forecasting and viewing the situation, including the possible impact of the United States election results. The Prime Minister requested proactive and prompt response to policies, and governance scenarios for all situations.
Vietnam needs breakthrough mechanisms, policies, and solutions to promote science and technology, innovation, renew growth drivers, and promote new growth drivers, Prime Minister Chinh said and called GDP growth a very important indicator, that helps increase labor productivity.
The Prime Minister also urged a review of the work serving the 15th National Assembly’s 8th session, including the preparation of documents regarding the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project. He also emphasized the organization of upcoming major holidays, especially the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army at the end of 2024, as well as big events in 2025.
