Poland rejects British Prime Minister’s proposed immigration policy

(VOVworld) - Poland has rejected British Prime Minister David Cameron’s proposal to change the European Union (EU) treaty to allow Britain to cancel welfare benefits for the children of Polish migrant workers. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said on Monday that the proposal is “unfair” because Polish workers pay the same taxes as British workers.

On Sunday Cameron called for changes in EU regulations that would allow the UK to stop providing welfare benefits to children of migrant labourers from other EU countries. He vowed to reconsider the UK‘s EU membership and to conduct a referendum on the matter by the end of 2017.
