President asks Procuracy sector to continue reforms

The People’s Procuracy reformed its mode of operation in the context of national judicial reform and strengthened the rights to supervision of judicial activities. Reports at the sector’s meeting on Sunday said that the People’s Procuracy dealt with nearly 83,000 cases and contributed to improving the quality of trial last year. Addressing the meeting, President Truong Tan Sang, who is also Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, emphasized that this year the Procuracy sector needs to continue reform itself and focus on the execution of the rights to supervision to ensure there would be no victim of injustice. President Sang said corruption crimes should be severely punished. He added: “Procuracy at different levels should be well aware of the role of people in their activities. Prosecutors should rely on the people, subject to people’s supervision and elicit people’s support. Procuracy at all levels need to listen to mass organizations’ opinions and closely coordinate with them.

The President also urged the Procuracy to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example and be upright, truthful, objective, prudent and modest.
