President Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body preservation is a political task
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has attended a conference on preserving and protecting President Ho Chi Minh’s body 50 years after his death.
The event was organized by the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command on Thursday. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his gratitude to the experts of the former Soviet Union, now Russia, for their contribution to the protection of the President’s embalmed body. He said: ““The long-term preservation and protection of President Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body is a joint task of the whole political system. I asked relevant authorities, ministries and localities to support the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command in the successful accomplishment of the task, as it is a sacred mission on the part of the Party, State, army and people.”
The State-level medical scientific council has recently concluded that the embalmed body of the late President Ho Chi Minh is in great condition and has been well-preserved.
After the President Ho’s death, embalming and preserving his body in a mausoleum became an important expectation of the Party and the Vietnamese people.
His body was first transferred to Military Central Hospital 108. In the following days, it was embalmed by Soviet Union experts and a special Vietnamese medical team under a joint agreement between the two governments.
In 2003, Russia officially agreed to jointly produce with Vietnam a chemical mixture needed for the preservation of President Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body. Since then, Vietnam has successfully produced the special chemical mixture for preservation.
