(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang beat the drum to open a tree planting festival in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh in Bach Thong district, Bac Kan province on Wednesday.
President Quang said the event has become a fine custom of people during Tet, contributing to environmental protection and national development. He stressed on the strategic importance of tree planting and forest protection amidst global warming and climate change: “I sincerely call on agencies, sectors, localities, and people nationwide to enthusiastically join the tree planting campaign for fruits, wood, and shades, and for protecting us from winds, flood, land erosion, and salt intrusion. It is important to raise public awareness of forest protection and prevent illegal logging.”
To mark the occasion, President Quang paid an incense tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Na Tu historical relic site in Cam Giang commune, and delivered gifts to former young volunteers living in difficulty.
