The consensus was reached during talks in Vientiane between visiting Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.

The leaders discussed measures to boost the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, suggested ways they could help each other deal with the COVID-19 epidemic, and agreed to promote cooperation across the board and capitalize on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

They underscored the need to strengthen political ties, cooperate on strategic issues of security and development, and continue high-level visits between leaders of the two Parties and States.

Following their talks, the leaders witnessed the signing of some cooperation documents.

During the visit, which will conclude on Tuesday, President Phuc will meet the Lao Prime Minister and National Assembly Chairman.

He will deliver a speech at the Lao National Assembly and attend a ceremony to hand over the NA House, a gift of Vietnam to Laos.

President Phuc will also visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane and meet Vietnamese people and businesses in the country.
