President Obama holds press conference 100 days after swearing in for the 2nd term

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama held a press conference at the White House on Wednesday 100 days after swearing in for the 2nd term. He touched upon the use of chemical weapons in Syria, the Boston marathon bombing, and policies on home affairs including immigration reforms, gun control and federal budget spending cuts. Concerning the twin bombing at the Boston marathon in Massachusetts on April 15th, President Obama voiced his support for law enforcement agencies in apprehending the suspects and collecting evidence. He also hailed Russia’s cooperation particularly its intelligence on the 2 primary suspects but admitted that there has been skepticism between the two countries’ intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Talking about the situation in Syria, President Obama confirmed that Washington will not rush into intervening unless there is clear evidence that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons in its internal conflict. Referring to federal budget spending cuts, President Obama said he will continue dialogue with legislators to reach a deal on reducing deficit to avoid negative impacts on other areas.
