President Putin commends strategic partnership with India

(VOVWORLD) -During Tuesday talks with visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he believes Moscow and New Delhi should maintain a privileged strategic partnership.

Putin expressed satisfaction with the growing trade between Russia and India, which increased 66% last year and rose 20% in the first quarter of this year.

Prime Minister Modi said he believes Russia and India will continue to strengthen cooperation in multiple fields. Discussing the conflict in Ukraine, Modi said peace is “of utmost importance”. He said India is ready to provide any assistance it can to restore peace in Ukraine.

The two leaders also discussed global security issues, energy security issues, and economic cooperation between Russia and India, within BRICS, and with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the world's leading emerging economies ( G20).

This is Mr. Modi's first visit to Russia since 2019. During his two-day visit, the two sides issued a Joint Statement and signed 15 cooperation documents.
