(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang says Vietnam treasures the development of its stable, healthy, and sustainable ties with China.

At a reception for Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, in Hanoi on Wednesday, President Quang stressed the need to maintain regular exchanges and contacts between the leaders of the two countries. He praised the two National Assemblies for boosting relationships, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation in diplomacy, security, defense, and communications. Vietnam’s president said both sides need to respect each other’s legitimate interests in accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Mr. Zang said his Vietnam visit aims to implement the agreement signed by the two countries’ leaders and that both China and Vietnam need to deepen their comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership.
