He said Vietnam considers South Africa its leading partner in Africa and wants to develop bilateral cooperation in all areas to match their “partnership for cooperation and development.” President Quang asked for South Africa’s support for his special envoy’s candidacy to the post of UNESCO Director General for the 2017-2021 term and for Vietnam’s bid to join the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member between 2020 and 2021. He also called on South Africa to share its experience in UN peacekeeping missions and continue to provide English training courses for Vietnamese officials.

Vice President Ramaphosa said he hopes Vietnam will assist South Africa in shipping industry, marine transport, and aquaculture. He reiterated South Africa’s continued support for Vietnam at international forums.
