President Tran Dai Quang wraps up Russia visit

(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang left Saint Petersburg on Saturday wrapping his official visit to Russia. Earlier, President Quang met Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Pantavchenko, who said President Quang’s visit to Russia will create a momentum for further bilateral trade and economic ties.

Mr. Pantavchenko said Saint Petersburg planned to open its first photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh at the Ermitage National Museum in 2019 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Fundamental Principles of Vietnam-Russia ties.

President Quang praised cooperation between Saint Petersburg and Vietnamese localities. He promised to create favorable conditions to boost bilateral cooperation. President Tran Dai Quang visited the Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Relic in Smolny Palace, the 8th International Naval Exhibition and Ekaterina Exhibition. 

While in Saint Petersburg, President Quang laid a wreath at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery which is dedicated to victims of the Siege of Leningrad and soldiers of the Leningrad Front. 

Writing on the visitors’ book at the cemetery, the President expressed his emotion when visiting the place witnessing the sacrifice of soldiers who laid down their lives to bring peace to Russia and mankind.

President Quang and his entourage came to see Russia’s historic cruiser Aurora, which took part in World War I and II and has been touted as a revolution icon since it fired a shot to beckon the last attack at the Winter Palace in Petrograd on November 11, 1917. To date, the cruiser is being preserved and operated as a museum.

Earlier, President Quang and his entourage also went on a tour of the Winter Palace, part of the Hermitage Museum which displays some 3 million art works
