(VOVworld) - Mongolian President Tsakhiagin Elbegdorja has started a four-day official visit to Viet Nam today at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang.

During talks on Thursday, both Presidents agreed to promote mutual understanding through exchanges of visit and cooperation in national security and defense. Both welcomed their recognition of each other’s market economy status and wished to improve trade and investment cooperation for national construction. They pledged to strengthen art and cultural cooperation, especially the organization of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.
They emphasized the need to maintain peace, stability, maritime freedom and safety in the East Sea, saying that all parties should settle disputes in peaceful means based on the international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and strictly abide by the Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and work towards the formation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) soon. They witnessed the signing of 4 cooperative agreements and informed the press about the success of the visit.
