(VOVwold) – President Truong Tan Sang on Saturday paid a working visit to the central province of Quang Tri. At a meeting with local authorities on socio-economic development, security and defence, President Sang said Quang Tri has great potential in trade, service, and tourism as it has border gates with other ASEAN countries. He called for measures to remove hurdles to promote the potential of the important economic corridor. The President urged Quang Tri to learn from experiences of effective agricultural and industrial models.

Earlier, when looking into the model of building new rural area in Vinh Thanh commune, President Sang emphasized the need to mobilize resources from the society apart from the state budget and to uphold people’s mastery role.

During his stay in Quang Tri, the President burnt incense at Martyrs’ Cemeteries, Quang Tri citadel’s Monument and memorial house of former Party General Secretary Le Duan.
