A Nanogen representative said the trials of the Nanocovax vaccine so far have been promising, with 14,000 people vaccinated.

Mr. Phuc praised the company’s success in producing a home-grown vaccine, saying vaccines and social distancing are the keys to defeating COVID-19.

“The Ministry of Health and other relevant agencies need to create favorable conditions, including simplified administrative procedures, to help Nanogen complete its vaccine trials. World Health Organization representatives may be invited to conduct a vaccine assessment, if necessary.”

President Phuc said that after meeting domestic demand, Nanogen should look to export its vaccine. Vietnam needs 150 million doses of vaccine to cover 70% of its population by early next year.
