During talks on the sidelines of the 30th Diplomatic Conference in Hanoi on Tuesday, the President tasked the diplomats with affirming the Party and State’s consistent policy of being a friend, trustworthy partner, and responsible member of the international community. Mr. Quang said: “The diplomats need to understand the global situation, foresee any possible risks, and propose to the Party and the State specific measures to deal with any threats to Vietnam’s national security and territorial integrity. It is necessary to connect internal and external affairs, multilateral and bilateral diplomacy, and economic and cultural diplomacy in the national interest and for national defence and development”.

The President urged the diplomats to improve economic and cultural diplomacy, fully exploit new-generation free trade agreements, and expand export markets for Vietnamese goods. He said the diplomats need to research successful and unsuccessful development models of other countries and make proper policy recommendations to the Party and State. President Quang added Vietnam needs to actively propose initiatives at multilateral, regional, and global forums to show it’s a responsible member of the world community.
