(VOVWORLD) - Economic cooperation has always been an important pillar of bilateral ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) and the two countries should make full use of trade and economic agreements to raise two-way trade to 100 billion USD next year and 150 billion USD by 2030, said President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During a reception for RoK Foreign Minister Park Jin in Hanoi on Tuesday, Mr. Phuc welcomed Korean businesses to expand their investment in Vietnam, valued at 80 billion USD at present, particularly in digital technology, electronics, and renewable energy.

The President noted that Vietnam is a safe and stable destination for Korean firms.  Minister Park said despite the COVID-19 pandemic, two-way trade has been on the rise, and a large number of Korean firms have invested in Vietnam. The RoK has always regarded Vietnam as a strategic partner in terms of ODA, he said.
