President Vo Van Thuong meets Sri Lankan President

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong met with the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, while they are attending the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China on Wednesday.

President Vo Van Thuong said that to strengthen bilateral relations in the future, Vietnam and Sri Lanka should expand cooperation in all fields and effectively promote cooperation mechanisms to create favorable conditions for each other’s businesses.

He proposed that the two countries promote cooperation in other potential fields such as education, tourism, cultural and religious exchanges, as well as people‑to‑people exchanges. Both countries should consider opening direct flights connecting Buddhist destinations to boost spiritual tourism.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe affirmed his willingness to strengthen the Sri Lanka-Vietnam relationship and agreed with President Thuong’s proposals. He expressed his wish to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
