Prime Minister has bilateral meetings in Hamburg

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had official meetings with Republic of Korean President Moon Jae-in and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Friday, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany.

Prime Minister Phuc and President Moon agreed to increase high-level visits to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Republic of Korean diplomatic ties in 2017. They stressed the need to forge closer cooperation in economics, investment, and cultural exchanges and to reach a two-way trade turnover of 100 billion USD by 2020.

Mr. Phuc urged the Republic of Korea to increase its imports of Vietnamese agricultural products and effectively implement the bilateral Free Trade Area. He also suggested that the Republic of Korea continue helping Vietnam join the global supply chain and develop supportive industry, and transfer technology for Vietnam.

Prime Minister Phuc also met with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who said Australia wants to elevate its Strategic Partnership with Vietnam and that 200,000 Australians of Vietnam origins and 25,000 Vietnamese students in Australia lay important foundation for bilateral ties.

Also on Friday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had short meetings with the Turkish President, Senegal President, Singaporean Prime Minister, and Canadian Prime Minister.
