At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed the war veterans as examples of unyielding spirit and extraordinary dedication to fight for national independence, freedom, and unification and for their compatriots’ better lives.

Mr. Phuc said: “The Vietnamese Party and State always care for revolutionary contributors in line with Vietnamese people’s tradition of ‘drink water, remember the source’. We pay due attention to fine-tuning the laws and preferential policies for those who have rendered great services to the nation.”

The Prime Minister applauded the war invalids and martyrs’ families for healing past wounds and moving on. “Vietnam’s revolutionary heroes are bright examples and a great source of encouragement for others to overcome difficulties. Following the Party guidelines and State policies, ministries and localities should involve all people to care for revolutionary contributors and their families”, Mr. Phuc said.

Prime Minister Phuc presented certificates of merit to 72 war veterans at the meeting.

Vietnam has 1.2 million war invalids, 12,000 of them are seriously wounded. Whether living with families or at caring facilities, they have become role models in economic activities, taken part in the search for and repatriation of their comrades’ remains, engaged in social and humanitarian activities, and inspired other to follow suit.
