Prime Minister meets Vietnamese women’s football team

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Thursday met members of the Vietnamese national women’s football team who returned home earlier the same day after earning a berth at the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time and finishing fifth at the recently-concluded 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup.

The Prime Minister said the victory is the biggest achievement in Vietnam’s football history.  He said: “We won two matches which proved our prompt tactics in seizing opportunities while the players showed their strong spirit for the nation and for the love of fans. Their victory brought joy to all Vietnamese during the early days of the new Lunar Year."

At the meeting, members of the Vietnam women’s football team and head coach Mai Duc Chung shared their sentiment and expressed their gratitude to the government, the Prime Minister, the Vietnam Football Federation, and Vietnamese football fans for supporting the national women’s football team. Mr. Chung said the whole team will exert all out effort to gain bigger success to meet expectation of the Party, State, government and people.
