Prime Minister orders continued support for people to recover from floods

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday urged the armed forces to do their best "for the peaceful life of the people” and be ready to “sacrifice themselves to save lives and help those in need."

The Prime Minister on Friday paid an abrupt visit to High Command of the Military Region 4 in Vinh city, Nghe An province, as the Command’s forces are making all-out efforts to help people in the central region to overcome the consequences of the most severe flood from the beginning of the year.

The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Defense and Military Region 4 to hold a solemn funeral for officers and soldiers who died in the Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant incident and share the pain with relatives of the victims. He asked for better care for and policies beneficial to those who laid down their lives and their relatives.

The Prime Minister instructed Military Region 4 to continue working with Thua Thien-Hue province to search for missing hydropower plant workers.

Two of the 17 workers reported buried by landslide near Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant in Thua Thien Hue province have been found dead and the other 15 are still listed as missing. 

Meanwhile, the bodies of all 13 members of a rescue team buried by another landslide in central Thua Thien-Hue province have been retrieved. The bodies were found at ranger station 67 in Phong Dien district on Thursday and memorial services will be held in Hue city.
