Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends ASEAN Summit's activities

(VOVWORLD) - On Thursday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ASEAN member states attended a dialogue with representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary General Assembly (AIPA), the ASEAN Youth Organization, and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.

These are the first activities held within the framework of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related meetings.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ASEAN countries welcomed the organization of the dialogue sessions and listened to opinions from representatives of different groups.

The leaders affirmed AIPA's companionship with the governments of ASEAN countries over the past decades, and proposed measures to enhance coordination between the executive and legislative channels, including actively reviewing and removing barriers, harmonizing laws, and facilitating the implementation of agreements and cooperation programs, especially in digital transformation, energy transformation, and climate change response. 

The same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The two leaders agreed to soon resume the exchange of high-level delegations and step up economic-trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in order to create momentum to further deepen bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
The two countries will continue to promote trade and strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, green transformation, and climate change response.
Discussing global and regional issues of mutual concern, the two leaders reaffirmed the importance of consolidating ASEAN solidarity and unity and agreed to maintain ASEAN's central role in  regional processes.
Also on Thursday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The two leaders praised the development of the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership. The two sides agreed to increase trade, create a favorable business and investment environment for each other's businesses, and promote the sales of high quality agricultural products.
They promised to strengthen defense-security cooperation, especially maritime cooperation, work closely in energy security, climate change response, digital transformation, green economy, circular economy, education and training, labor, culture, and tourism, and enhance people-to-people exchange.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides affirmed the need to uphold the principle of settling disputes by peaceful means in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS, and agreed to continue to support each other and maintain the unity and central role of ASEAN.
