Prime Minister Phuc attends coronation of Japan’s Emperor

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the coronation ceremony of Japanese Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo on Tuesday at the invitation of the Japanese Government.

At the ceremony, Emperor Naruhito swore that he will act according to the constitution and fulfill his responsibility as the symbol of the state and of the unity of the people. He expressed his hope that Japan will develop further and contribute to the friendship and peace of the international community, and to the welfare and prosperity of human beings.

Crown Prince Naruhito ascended the throne as the 126th Emperor of Japan on May 1, starting the Reiwa era. The coronation ceremony, one of the main Autumn events to be held for the new emperor, formally announces his reign to domestic and foreign dignitaries.

Heads of states and senior officials of 186 countries and international organizations attended coronation ceremony. Just after Naruhito was made emperor, Vietnam's senior leaders sent congratulatory messages. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said Vietnam firmly believes that under the Reiwa era, Japan will continue to mark great achievements in building a prosperous country, and that the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan will continue to be strengthened for the benefit of the people of both countries.
