Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday to announce the series of events, Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy said the 8th Cambodia - Laos - Myanmar - Vietnam Summit will focus on opportunities and challenges for the economic development of the four countries and measures to boost their cooperation in improving competitiveness and promoting regional integration. The 7th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit will discuss how to step up cooperation among member countries towards sustainable development and narrow the development gap in the Mekong sub-region. At the same time, the World Economic Forum on Mekong (WEF-Mekong) will convene three sessions, debating ways to mobilise financial resources for infrastructure development, expand new industrialisation models, and remove trade barriers.

Deputy Minister Dang Dinh Quy talks about Vietnam’s role in the meetings: "Vietnam has been active in joining the cooperation mechanisms to promote their practical outcomes and the establishment of economic corridors in the Mekong sub-region, including the North-South and East-West  corridors. The events will advertise local business potential to the world and facilitate the sharing of creative ideas and cooperative opportunities between regional companies and world groups for more investment in infrastructure, human resources and Mekong regional connectivity."
