The Democratic People's Republic of Korea on Wednesday agreed to a moratorium on nuclear tests and long-range missile launches. Pyongyang will also halt uranium enrichment at its facility in Yongbyon and permit verification by international inspectors. White House Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the US welcomes the decision and will promote a plan to provide 240,000 tons of food aid to North Korea. She added that the US will work to resume the six-party talks on Pyongyang’s nuclear program which will include China, Japan, the two Koreas, Russia, and the US.
