Qatar has no plans to leave GCC despite diplomatic row

(VOVWORLD) - Qatar does not plan to withdraw from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) despite a conflict with its neighbors, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani told Sputnik on Sunday.

The GCC is the political and economic alliance of six Middle Eastern countries—Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. The GCC was established in Saudi Arabia, in 1981.

Qatar has been under a diplomatic and economic blockade, after the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, among others, severed diplomatic relations and communications with Qatar last year, accusing it of supporting terrorism and interfering in their internal affairs. Qatar has denied these allegations.
