(VOVworld) - Hoi An town in the central province of Quang Nam debuted the construction of a solar energy-based electricity supply system to power its sound and lighting.

The project has a total investment of 145,000 euros, 90 percent of which comes from the German government and the rest from Hoi An and Germany’s Wernigerode city. Under the project, solar panels will be installed in Song Hoai square that will be capable of producing 55kWh for lighting and decorations for entertainment activities like street arts, folk games, decorative lanterns, and the Cau bridge relic. It is hoped the project will help Hoi An develop sustainable tourism compatible with its goal of becoming an eco-culture-tourism city.
