Rebel group occupies South Sudan military base

Rebels from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) have announced that they have occupied a military base near Kadugli, the capital city of South Kurdufan State, an oil-production state in South Sudan. A spokesperson for the SPLM-N said this force took control of a military post in Ghandur, killing 13 government soldiers and stealing many weapons. This development could damage the relationship of Sudan and South Sudan which has cooled down recently. The SPLM-N declared that Kadugli is a “military target” and called on people there to prepare for evacuation.
