Kurdistan Region Security Council head Masrour Barzani said the campaign to attack Mosul faced several hurdles because the coalition had only conducted airstrikes in support at dawn and the Kurdish troops haven’t been well equipped.

By the end of Sunday, the seventh day of the campaign to liberate the city, the Iraqi military forces and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces regained the control of 17 villages and several towns near Mosul. About 30,000 soldiers of the Iraqi army, the Kurdish Peshmerga and Sunni tribal forces have participated in the military operations.
