Over the reviewed period, which began in 2010, about 2.5 million USD were invested in building 72 classrooms and 45 teachers’ apartments, and providing teaching materials for schools having students from Vietnam’s smaller ethnic groups. The state budget has allocated 3.1 million USD for localities to upgrade the infrastructure of primary schools under this program.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Nguyen Thi Nghia, talks about activities in the next 2 years: "The localities have to combine their projects with the resources of other projects. In addition to capital from the national target program, we need to mobilize social investment toward building infrastructure and facilitating teaching materials, so the teachers will be assured to engage in teaching in ethnic minority communities."

The delegates suggested the government have a long-term plan for ethnic minority students after the project ends because they live in extremely disadvantaged areas.
