Revising laws to attract investment

(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies on Monday discussed amendments and supplements to the Law on Value-added Tax. They agreed that the law, passed in 1997, has had a great impact on all aspects of the economy and society, thus boosting goods production and circulation. They said revising the law will help improve the tax-related legal system, increase business competitiveness and attract investment. The deputies suggested that the revised law should take into account the tax reform strategy between 2011 and 2020. Deputy Duong Quang Son from Bac Kan province said: “Revisions should clarify the criteria of those subject to tax collection as well as reduce the amount of non-taxable goods and services and those with a tax rate of 5%.”

The deputies also commented on the draft law which aims to amend Article 170 of the Enterprise Law with the intention of removing difficulties to foreign-invested businesses. The same day, they discussed amendments and supplements to the Law on Fire Prevention and Control and the draft law on Plant Protection and Quarantine.
